Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This policy explains what data Pip collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user. Pip is operated as a sole trader service. Questions: hello@pipforobsidian.app.
What we collect
Pip collects and stores the following data to operate the service:
- Your Telegram chat ID (a numeric identifier assigned by Telegram — not your phone number)
- The text content of messages you send to the Pip bot
- A connection PIN used to link your Telegram account to your Obsidian vault
- Stripe customer and subscription identifiers (for Pro subscribers)
- Daily AI note counts and tag history (for usage limits and personalisation)
- Your subscription tier (Free or Pro) and trial status
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Payment card details (handled entirely by Stripe)
- Access to your Obsidian vault — notes are delivered to your local device via the plugin
- Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
- Cookies or tracking pixels on this website
How your data is used
- Note delivery: Message content is encrypted at rest and transmitted to your Obsidian vault. Once your plugin confirms receipt, the message is deleted from our servers.
- AI formatting (Pro tier): Your note content is sent to Google Gemini API for formatting, title generation, and tagging. Google processes this data under their Gemini API Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Notes sent via the Free tier are not processed by AI and are not sent to Google.
- Payments: Subscription data is processed by Stripe. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
Third-party processors
- Stripe — payment processing. stripe.com/privacy
- Google Gemini API — AI note formatting (Pro tier only). Note content is sent to Google's API and subject to their data handling policies.
- Hostinger VPS — server infrastructure in the EU (Lithuania data centre). Data is stored on this server.
- Telegram — the bot operates via Telegram's Bot API. Telegram's Privacy Policy applies to messages sent via their platform.
Data retention
- Message content: Deleted from our servers immediately after delivery confirmation from your Obsidian plugin (or after 7 days if undelivered).
- Profile data (chat ID, PIN, tier, usage counts): Retained while your account is active.
- Stripe identifiers: Retained while you have an active or recently cancelled subscription.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Object to processing for purposes beyond operating the service
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pipforobsidian.app. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Pip is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via the Telegram bot. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
